Split complementary color examples

Shepard Fairey’s uses a ton of red in his artwork and I think his second favorite color is orange. Sometimes if we’re lucky he throws in a little blue.

This is called “A Visit in the Landscape”, by Camilla Engman. She chose blue-violet in the man leaning on the tree, and the split complementary yellow and red-orange for the woman’s clothing.

This is a very subtle example of a split complementary in photography. The blue sky contrasts with the split complementaries yellow (in the pants) and dark red-orange in the railing. This photo is from Things to Save.

Good old Miro, always coming through with the split complementaries! This is a panel from his “Constellations” series.
