via Flavorwire This is such a refreshing idea. There is already too much pollution, so why not use the pollution to create art? Instead of spray paint, artist Paul ‘Moose’ Curtis uses stencils and a power washer to CLEAN his canvases. I love the idea of taking away what is unnecessary to create something completelyContinue reading “Paul ‘Moose’ Curtis and Environmental Graffiti Art”

My Pantone Color Choice
This took some serious deliberations but I’ve decided on the PMS color 123C for ‘Sun Goddess’. The Pantone color predictions for 2010 were the warm yellows PMS 124 and 131. I wanted to keep the warmth from the sun but chose a brighter, more inspirational color.
Color Study: A Devo Inc Initiative
I have to say, this is really amazing. It’s a parody on a real brand research project by the 80’s band Devo. Found this by way of Core77 today, and thoroughly enjoyed myself while figuring out my Devo color – blue of course! This is what was posted on my Facebook page: My Devo ColorContinue reading “Color Study: A Devo Inc Initiative”
Sun Goddess – Color Story
The assignment is to paint the color picture through a narrative. I’m working with the color yellow and have chosen the name ‘Sun Goddess’ to represent the particular hue. It is represented best by the ancient Egyptian Sun God Aten, who was also believed to be the creator of life. The billowing folds of herContinue reading “Sun Goddess – Color Story”

Throughout his life and work, he emphasized the value of ‘maximum effect from minimum means’. He was also one of the first modern artists to investigate the nature of perception. Albers family members were artisans, fromContinue reading “Color Theorist Presentation – Josef Albers”
Ode to the Yellow Hue
I have always thought of yellow as an inspirational color, and the one most associated with innovations and ideas. A few years back I painted the walls of my apartment a pale yellow (“butter”), thinking that I would be inspired by the color! Strangely, I never associated the color with energy even though it obviouslyContinue reading “Ode to the Yellow Hue”

Week 2 assignments
From the top: 12-step color wheel, monochromatic hue study in blue, another monochromatic hue study in blue-green, value study, and analagous color study in orange, yellow and yellow-orange with the complementary color blue. I love anything blue or blue-green and mildly dislike the color orange, so for the analagous study I decided to work withContinue reading “Week 2 assignments”
Split complementary color examples
Shepard Fairey’s uses a ton of red in his artwork and I think his second favorite color is orange. Sometimes if we’re lucky he throws in a little blue. This is called “A Visit in the Landscape”, by Camilla Engman. She chose blue-violet in the man leaning on the tree, and the split complementary yellowContinue reading “Split complementary color examples”
